Teachers were celebrated for the champions they are
WINSLOW TWP. -- The students and staff of Winslow Township Middle School (WTMS) see their teachers as champions every day, but on March 8, they literally saw their teachers as champions, dressed as super heroes. Teachers were celebrated for the champions they are on "Dress Like A Champion Day," an event for all WTMS teachers who have been reading "Teach Like A Champion 2.0" by David Lemov.
Throughout the day, WTMS teachers used teaching strategies from Lemov's book, and awarded stars to those students who were demonstrating "super" abilities to learn.
Wonder Women, Spiderman and more than one Superman, and other caped crusaders roamed the halls. Some departments even collaborated to dress alike -- the entire guidance department dressed as Transformers, and the science teachers dressed as Iron Man with the periodic element for iron emblazoned on their chests.
"Teach Like A Champion 2.0" introduced powerful teaching techniques, designed to improve teaching practice and help students become college- and career-ready, according to Lemov's website. It offers more than 60 practical techniques for teachers to use in their classrooms.
