A fight broke out between David Giordano and his downstairs neighbor after Giordano poured water on the man's chirping birds.
CAMDEN -- A Voorhees man who was convicted of fatally stabbing his neighbor during a fight over the neighbor's loud birds was sentenced to 8 years in prison Wednesday, the Philadelphia Inquirer reports.
David P. Giordano, 65, was found guilty of aggravated manslaughter in February in connection with the death of 52-year-old Michael Taylor in June of 2012, but cleared of a first-degree murder charge.
The incident began when Giordano, who lived above Taylor, dumped water on the pet birds Taylor kept on his porch because they were chirping too loudly.

Taylor then went upstairs to confront Giordano. The newspaper reports that Taylor had rushed up and threatened to kill Giordano, who works as a butcher.
Giordano then picked up a knife and they fought, with Giordano stabbing Taylor three times. Taylor died 19 days later.
