High winds are expected to continue for the next several hours.
High winds have topped trees, caused power outages and are apparently to blame for a Millville church fire this morning.
Thousands of South Jersey customers are without power this morning. Atlantic City Electric is currently reporting about 6,000 customers without power, while PSEG is reporting nearly 22,000 customers in the dark in its 14-county service area.
Powerful winds downed trees at Park Avenue and Lakeview Drive in Collingwood, according to 6ABC.com, while another tree came down on a Cherry Hill home overnight.
In Millville, officials tell 6ABC that arcing power lines caused by a downed tree touched off a fire at a church that is still burning at this hour.
The National Weather Service issued a high wind warning through noon today. Gusts of up to 60 mph are possible, but winds are expected to diminish by evening.
