Funeral set for N.J. woman killed alongside fiance in shooting

Services for Aleshia Hill will be held on April 13.

CAMDEN -- Funeral arrangements have been set for the 25-year-old woman who was killed Monday in a double shooting that also claimed the life of her fiance.

Family and friends are invited to attend the public services for Aleshia Hill, of Camden, which be held next Wednesday from 1 to 2 p.m. at the McCann-Healy Funeral Home, in Gloucester City.

The following funeral service will be private, according to the woman's obituary.

Hill and John Valerio, 23, were found inside a North 26th Street home on Monday suffering from gunshot wounds. They were both pronounced dead shortly after 2 p.m.

The Camden County Prosecutor's Office says the shooting remains under investigation.

Hill's mother, Dawn Schmincke, said Wednesday morning that she just wants to see her daughter's killer brought to justice. She said the couple, who were Camden City's eight and ninth homicide victims of 2016, were engaged to be married.

At the scene Tuesday morning sat an unopened bottle of Welch's Mango Passion fruit juice, one tall white candle and an empty Patron Tequila bottle -- containing a note that read "R.I.P. John and Aleshia" scrawled on the label.

According to Valerio's Facebook page, the couple got engaged in January.
