CAMDEN -- The 23-year-old city man killed last Monday in a double shooting that also claimed the life of his fiance will be laid to rest Friday.
A viewing for John Carlos Valerio will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at the Blake-Doyle Funeral Home, in Collingswood.
Saturday's viewing and funeral mass will begin at 9:30 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church, located at 1739 Ferry Ave., in Camden, according to his obituary.
Family members did not wish to comment when reached at their Camden home Tuesday afternoon.
Valerio and his fiance, 25-year-old Aleshia Hill, were found inside their East Camden home on April 4 suffering from fatal gunshot wounds.
Services for Hill are scheduled to be held Wednesday afternoon in Gloucester City.
Hill's mother told the Philadelphia Inquirer that her daughter, who worked six days a week as a waitress in Cherry Hill, lived in Mullica Hill until she was a teenager.
The Inquirer report adds that after being arrested on drug charges, Valerio apologized to Hill's mother and said her daughter was helping him turn his life around. The two got engaged this January.
'Catch who did this,' mom of victim says
The Camden County Prosecutor's Office has not released any new information regarding the shooting since last week. According to the report, the motive may have been a robbery committed by someone who was let into the home.
