Camden School District works to plug budget with coming layoffs, report says.

CAMDEN -- More than 150 teachers and support staff will be impacted by another round of layoffs and personnel moves in a South Jersey school district, Philly.com reports.

The Camden School District -- which is run by the state -- announced it would begin laying off 154 teachers and support staff, according to reports.

Those facing layoffs include 22 teachers, 27 staff members including clerks, security guards, and custodians, as well as 29 staff members from the central office.

The cuts stem from the need to repair a $39 million budget gap for the 2016-2017 school year, reports say.

District officials announced the cuts Thursday night during the advisory school board meeting held at Dudley School.
