Police searching for man who assaulted woman jogging in park

The victim locked herself in her vehicle until help arrived.

BERLIN -- An assault on a runner reported Thursday morning at Berlin Park has prompted Camden County authorities to urge vigilance as the hunt for the suspect continues.

The victim, a woman in her 20s, was jogging at the park at approximately 9 a.m. when she was attacked from behind by an unknown white male, according to the Camden County Prosecutor's Office. The woman managed to escape from the attack and locked herself in her vehicle until authorities arrived.

"Detectives are actively investigating this matter," the prosecutor's office said late Thursday morning, adding that additional information would be released as it becomes available.

Berlin Park is located between the White Horse Pike, New Freedom Road and Park Drive in Berlin Borough.
