The Winslow Township man allegedly struggled with K-Mart security personnel.

GLOUCESTER TWP. -- A suspect sought in connection with a series of shoplifting incidents around Camden County over the past month was nabbed during a coordinated effort between the Gloucester Township and Winslow police departments.

The suspect -- identified by authorities as 45-year-old Willie Darren of Winslow Township -- was spotted operating a 2012 Dodge Journey during some of his alleged heists, police said.

According to Gloucester Township police, Darren stole televisions, DVDs, women's clothing, luggage, batteries, detergent, jewelry, gasoline, hoagies and sandwiches from a variety of stories, including K-Mart, Walmart, Wawa and more.

Police response a teaching moment

Darren allegedly struggled with and fled from K-Mart store security personnel during an alleged June 28 attempt of stealing "several" flat-screen televisions from the store in Clementon.

On July 2, Gloucester Township and Winslow police set up surveillance on an address Darren was known to be staying at and arrested him without incident after moving in.

Darren was charged with possession of a controlled dangerous substance, robbery and two counts of shoplifting. He was sent to the Camden County Correctional Facility in default of $50,000 bail.
