A gas station attendant was assaulted after handing over cash in one of the robberies.
WESTAMPTON TOWNSHIP -- Four men who police say are behind a spree of robberies throughout South Jersey were apprehended after authorities used the GPS in their rental car to tie them to the crimes.
Township police said 25-year-old Andrew L. Russell of Sicklerville, 20-year-old Taemir Goldsboro Atco, and 24-year-old Rashon Lewis of Lewis, are the three men who robbed a Citgo gas station on Burlington-Mount Holly Road on July 8 at 1:22 a.m.
Lewis allegedly displayed a black hand gun and demanded money from the gas station attendant, who handed over $250 in cash. The suspects then assaulted the 62-year-old attendant, causing facial injuries, before fleeing to the parking lot of nearby Bryan Animal Hospital.
There, 49-year-old Albert L. Moody Jr. of Paulsboro was waiting in their getaway rental car, a silver Chevy Impala.
A surveillance camera helped police identify the car as a rental vehicle and were able to use its GPS to connect the robbery to one in Eastampton Township on July 7, and two others in Bellmawr Township and Paulsboro Borough following the Westampton robbery.
The GPS also helped police track the car to Deptford Township, where all four men were taken into custody and charged with first-degree robbery and fourth-degree theft, as well as weapons and assault charges.
All remain in Burlington County Jail in lieu of bails ranging from $75,000 to $250,000.
