A car struck the family after hitting a minivan and jumping the curb in South Philly.
PHILADELPHIA -- A woman is dead and her family injured after they were hit by a car in South Philadelphia Friday night, 6 ABC reports.
The family of three were on the sidewalk when a white Toyota, traveling at a high speed, ran a stop sign, hit a green minivan, jumped the curb and hit them, the report says.
The vehicle's driver, a 34-year-old man, then abandoned his car and ran home, where he told someone he had been in an accident.
Of those hit, a 40-year-old woman died from massive head trauma while a 45-year-old man and 2-year-old boy were treated for minor injuries. Four individuals from the minivan also suffered minor injuries, ABC said.
The driver has been arrested and is facing vehicular homicide and reckless endangerment charges, according to 6 ABC.
