Homeowner finds fugitive hiding in bedroom closet, cops say

NORTH WILDWOOD -- A 49-year-old man wanted on grand larceny charges in New York was found hiding in a bedroom closet of a North Wildwood home, police said.

Daniel Cheney of Westmont was arrested just after 8:30 p.m. Tuesday after the homeowner called police to report an intruder in the house on the 100 block of North New York Avenue.

Cheney also had warrants out for his arrest in Runnemede, Haddon Township, Washington Township as well as from the Gloucester County Sheriff's Office, according to North Wildwood police.

He was charged with being a fugitive from justice and sent to the Cape May County jail to await extradition.
