Police in Winslow Township surprised a 5-year-old who recently bought them lunch with a special gift.
WINSLOW TWP. -- One township 5-year-old now his own police cruiser to ride around his neighborhood in after police officers surprised him with a battery-operated version of their own cars.
William Evertz Jr., known as Bubba to his family, had been saving for a power wheels police car, Philly.com reported, but last week he decided he wanted to do something different with the money he made from allowance and doing chores around the house.
Bubba wanted to give back. He had a list of random acts of kindness he wanted to perform, one of them being to buy lunch for the police department in his hometown.
In a post on the Winslow Township Police Department's Facebook page, officers detailed the letter they received from Bubba' mom that told them about his plans.
He bought them lunch from Subway, because he wanted the officers who "keep him safe even when he sleeps" to "be healthy," they wrote.
Touched by the young boy's kindness, officers in the town decided to pool their own money and get him a thank you gift.
They arrived at the Evertz home Tuesday with his personalized police car, complete with Winslow Township Police decals.
A video posted on the department's Facebook shows Bubba's excitement as an entourage of police officers showed up with his gift, lights and sirens blaring.
Bubba's mom told Philly.com that her son got the idea to give back after seeing a video on YouTube of someone donating money to help someone else. In addition to buying the police lunch, he also donated toys and school supplies to a domestic violence shelter and food and toys to an animal shelter, they reported.
