The new training complex, located at the Camden waterfront, is the largest in the NBA.

CAMDEN -- Two years after they announced they'd be crossing the bridge and heading to the Camden waterfront, the Philadelphia 76ers officially opened the first portion of their new training complex on Friday.

The 125,000-square-foot complex, which will be the largest in the NBA, includes two regulation-size basketball courts, a 2,800-square-foot player locker room, and rooms for wellness, recovery and hydrotherapy.

Other amenities -- for the players and front-office staff -- including a restaurant, private balcony and film and press room.

"In designing the basketball operations facility we pulled inspiration from the most cutting-edge sports medicine, wellness, and recovery practices from leagues, teams, and sport disciplines across the world," Sam Hinkie, Philadelphia 76ers president of basketball operations and general manager, said earlier this year when plans were unveiled.

The facility is located near the Adventure Aquarium and the BB&T music venue with views of the Delaware River and Philadelphia skyline. One of the draws to the Jersey side of the river was a tax break to the tune of $82 million over the next decade, so long as 250 jobs were generated at the site.

CEO Scott O'Neil said previously that about 200 of those jobs represent current team employees, including players and coaches, and there were plans to hire another 50 employees, mostly in sales and marketing.

Previously, the team practiced at the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine, in Bala Cynwyd, while business-side operations were located at The Navy Yard, in South Philadelphia.

"We are so proud, so proud, that the 76ers can now call Camden home," Camden Mayor Dana Redd said during the ribbon cutting on Friday.
