He allegedly sold heroin laced with the painkiller fentanyl to a Mantua resident.
WOODBURY -- Authorities have charged a Camden man with selling heroin laced with a powerful painkiller to a Mantua Township resident who died of a drug overdose, according to the Gloucester County Prosecutor's Office.
Damien D. Harriell, 36, was arrested Thursday on charges that he sold heroin laced with fentanyl to a 44-year-old Mantua man who died Aug. 4.
Harriell was charged with strict liability for a drug death, possession of less than one-half ounce of heroin with intent to distribute and possession of heroin.
The death was investigated by GCPO's major crimes unit, assisted by Mantua police.
Officers with the GCPO fugitive unit arrested Harriell without incident at a friend's home in Camden.
Harriell was placed in Salem County Correctional Facility on $200,000 bail.
He is the third person the GCPO is currently prosecuting on first-degree drug-induced death charges. All three deaths involved heroin or oxycodone.
