Frank Murphine 3rd writes that a 15-year-old ejected from her homeroom was treated unfairly.
To the Editor:
The classic article in the Oct. 22 South Jersey Times print edition, "Mom: student disciplined for liking Trump," says it all.
(The article cites a mother's complaint that her 15-year-old daughter was ejected from her homeroom at Overbrook High School in Pine Hill over a loud argument with another student who backs Hillary Clinton. The other student was not disciplined, according to the mother.)
This obviously intelligent girl -- what about equal rights for women? -- was sent home for "forming her own opinion," as her mother correctly stated.
I think both candidates have major flaws, OK? This situation involves a student who is actually interested in the world around her, instead of Pokemon GO or some other stupid habit.
Why do people believe that the media and Washington political machine are being fair?
Clinton and the Democratic National Committee were credibly accused of rigging the nomination system against primary opponent Bernie Sanders, so why can't people believe that? President Barack Obama and Clinton called each other every name in the book a few years ago when they were primary rivals. Now they act like they are in love!
Clinton needs to be glad that her mother wasn't as pro-abortion as she is, or Hillary wouldn't be here. That's my "deplorable" insight.

Don't erode my rights as a woman, GOP
To the Editor:
Think carefully about your presidential election vote.
I'm not pro-abortion, but I am "pro-choice" on this issue. Too many women and children already live in poverty. Too many women with mental health or substance abuse issues have children who are not wanted or will not have a decent quality of life.
Too many women in this country cannot get affordable health services, housing and child care. There are too many women and children in a system lacking enough resources to help them.
Some Republicans want to cut social services while, at the same time, supporting policies that would increase the number of persons dependent on these very services. Let us not return to a time when women were "barefoot and pregnant." Those who would take away my rights should stay out of my home and worry about themselves and their own wives, mothers, sisters and daughters.
In addition, before you vote for a candidate who wants to repeal the Affordable Care Act, think about yourself, a family member or friend. Do any of them people have high cholesterol, diabetes, high blood pressure, asthma or mental health issues? The list goes on and on.
Increased premiums for Obamacare "Marketplace" health plans are not just the result of covering people who don't have insurance. This also includes people who could not afford the insurance they were offered previously because of their pre-existing conditions.

Clinton hoodwinked Times into endorsement
To the Editor:
Regarding the South Jersey Times/Star-Ledger Oct. 23 endorsement of Hillary Clinton for president:
Why do you feel you have to endorse anyone? Of all the hundreds of millions of people in this wonderful country, we have Donald Trump and Clinton. What a choice!
Your editorial states that it's warranted for Clinton to win in a runaway. But you mentioned enough skeletons in her closet to not endorse her. Then, you listed what she stands for. And you believe her? Boy, is your editorial board gullible. Clinton is a career politician and will say and do anything to achieve her goal of being president.
As I wrote in a previous letter, I served in Army security with a top secret clearance, and if I had handled classified information as loosely as Clinton did, I would have served time in military prison at Fort Leavenworth, Kansas. At the very least, she should have lost her security clearance. I used to believe in the FBI, but its director, James Comey (who declined to file charges over Clinton's use of private email servers) is a Clinton stooge.
I am sick of career politicians. So, with all his faults, I have voted for Trump and hope he will end this crooked mess. Where are all the honest people?
