George Valentine repeatedly failed to pay payroll taxes for employees of J&F and River Road trucking
CAMDEN-- A man who ran a trucking company based in the city was sentenced to 18 months in prison Monday after admitting he failed to pay hundreds of thousands of dollars in payroll taxes on behalf of employees, the IRS said in a statement.
George Valentine of Williamstown owned J & F Trucking, later known as River Road Trucking, from at least 2007 until 2012. During that period, Valentine repeatedly failed to collect and pay payroll taxes.
In the second quarter of 2009, Valentine did not file a Form 941 and failed to pay more than $10,000 in taxes. In the second quarter of 2012, he failed to pay more tha $6,000 in payroll taxes.
And between 2007 and 2012, he did not pay $187,000 in taxes under the J & F name and another $128.000 under the River Road name.
