Amber Dudley, 27, of Collingswood, died just before midnight Wednesday at a Trenton hospital after being wounded hours earlier during a robbery attempt.

"Our family is devastated by this loss," the family wrote on the GoFundMe page. The page sought $2,000 and had exceeded it by Friday afternoon.

"Our family is lacking the funds for this funeral, and Amber really deserves the best. Please help out our family. This death was not just any death. We lost a sister, a daughter, a cousin, an aunt," the family wrote.

Dudley was a passenger in a vehicle driving under the rideshare service Lyft at the time. Two other people were also in the car - a man and woman, plus the male Lyft driver.

Woman shot to death during robbery

Authorities said a gunman got in the vehicle in an attempt to rob people in the car and Dudley was shot during the confrontation, in the area of Mechanics and East Trenton avenues.

The Lyft driver sped away from the area and - possibly unfamiliar with the area - pulled over in front of the Trenton Police Department headquarters when he saw patrol cars.

What Dudley and the the other passengers were doing in Trenton has not been discussed by investigators. Trenton police and the Mercer County Homicide Task Force are investigating.
