Wednesday's shooting brings Camden's 2016 homicide total to 44.
CAMDEN -- The Camden County Prosecutor's Office (CCPO) on Friday released the identity of a woman killed in a shooting here late Wednesday.
Nakema Nokes, 34, of Camden, was the victim, CCPO Sgt. Eric Wren said Friday. Nokes was shot to death inside a residence at the Ablett Village housing complex.
According to previous reports, authorities received a call at around 11:30 p.m. Wednesday that reported a person who'd been shot. Police responded and located Nokes, who was transported to Cooper University Hospital and pronounced dead at 11:41 p.m.

The circumstances surrounding the shooting remain unclear and the prosecutor's office did not immediately say if any arrests had been made.
Nokes' death brings Camden City's homicide total to 44 this year. The 43rd death was Shawn L. Johnson, 27, who was shot early Tuesday in the 1200 block of East State Street.
