Gloucester Twp. honors EMS personnel for their service

The second annual awards banquet/holiday social was held Dec. 16

BLACKWOOD -- Gloucester Township Emergency Medical Services (GTEMS) held its second annual awards banquet and holiday social on Dec. 16 at The Palace in Blackwood. Approximately 80 EMS personnel and invited guests attended this event.

The guest speaker included Gloucester Township Mayor David Mayer who thanked the GTEMS personnel in attendance for their service to the residents and visitors of Gloucester Township.

The following awards were given to personnel for their service to Gloucester Township during 2015:

Board of Trustees President's Award -- Jim Wintrode for his visionary guidance and unwavering leadership while serving as our 2016 Board Treasurer

EMS Chief Director's Award -- to the Assistant Directors: Angela Pedersen, Chis Smith, Chris Williams, Michelle Smith, Rob Saunders, Rebecca D'Alton and Ryan Meehl for their dedication to leading GTEMS to new levels of success throughout 2016. Also, Administrator Beth Bailey for outstanding dedication and support

EMS Assistant Director's Award -- EM's Malinda Mangaro and John Bonelli for Outstanding Performance and Teamwork

EMS Image Enhancement Award --  EMT Anthony Saban who was chosen by his peers to best exemplify the GTEMS Model Employee.

GTEMS Top Responder Award -- EMT Jay Marino with 684 calls

Class B Awards- EMT Kevin Tucker, EMT Chris Zimmerman and AD Rebecca D'Alton for assisting the Pine Hill Police on April 16 in the rescue of multiple trapped fire victims on balconies at the Mansion Apartment Fire.

Class C Award to EMTs Dan DiClementi, Steven Weiss, Eric Myles and AD Michelle Smith for participation in the 2016 State Simulation Games at the NJ Statewide EMS Conference.

Class C Award to EMTs Alexia Ocasio, EMT Tom Patricelli and AD Angela Pedersen for decorating a 2nd Place Ambulance for the Blackwood Fire Company Christmas Parade

Class C Award -- to all 2016 Field Training Officers for mentoring new employees

Class E Award- Given to Skylar Ruff, a 14 year old Gloucester Township resident who successfully resuscitated her grandfather with CPR after a obstructed airway incident caused him to go into cardiac arrest.

CPR Save Awards --  EMT John Bonelli, EMT Alex Maslow and AD Chris Smith for the successful resuscitation of a cardiac arrest patient outside the Chews Elementary School on Nov. 11.

CPR Save Awards -- EMTs Pam Pipicz, Donna Harding, Tom Patricelli and Rebecca D'Alton for successfully resuscitating a sudden cardiac arrest patient at the American Legion Baseball Field on Taylor Avenue on June 20.

The highlight of this event was when Mark Bianchni, a Gloucester Township resident and cardiac arrest survivor, personally presented and thanked his rescuers for his successful resuscitation.

GTEMS would like to recognize its event contributors and sponsors -- the GTEMS Operations Management Team, the Currey Family, the Philadelphia Eagles, Dave & Busters, Uber, Baskets and Blooms Florist, Travel Set Go and MedicED.com.   

Gloucester Township Emergency Medical Services is a 501c3 non-profit EMS Agency that supplies basic life support ambulance service to Gloucester Township and Pine Hill. The department is composed of 50 EMTs that respond from the Glendora Rescue Squad Building, The Lambs Terrace Fire Station 85 and Pine Hill Fire Department.

The GTEMS Administration Offices are located at 109 N. Black Horse Pike, Suite 5D, Blackwood. Gloucester Township EMS fleet consists of nine ambulances, and two first responder/command vehicles. Three ambulances and an EMS Duty Chief/First Responder Vehicle are staffed 24/7 and an additional Power Shift ambulance is staffed daily 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Gloucester Township Emergency Medical Services is the third busiest basic life support ambulance agency in Camden County with over 10,000 responses, transporting over 6,000 patients to area hospitals in 2016.
