Cherry Hill middle school on lockdown, police on scene after threat

Someone made an anonymous threat to the school, officials said.

CHERRY HILL TWP. -- Henry C. Beck Middle School remains on lockdown Wednesday after someone called the school with an anonymous threat, school officials said.

In a post on the school district's website, Beck School Principal Sidney Dawson said lockdown procedures were put in place just before 11 a.m. and police were notified.

The school remained on lockdown and police were setting up a perimeter at 12:15 p.m., according to 6abc. Cherry Hill Public Schools Director of Security Tony Saporito was also on scene, Dawson said.

Dawson did not give any details about the nature of the threat.

As part of the lockdown, staff and students remain out of sight in their classrooms with the doors locked. The exterior doors of the school are also locked and no one is permitted to enter or exit, Dawson said in the post.
