Police have arrested one driver, but believe a third vehicle may have run the motorcyclist over.
PENNSAUKEN TWP. -- Police arrested a man they said hit a motorcyclist from behind on Route 73 on New Year's Eve, but they think it's possible another driver may have run him over and fled the scene.
The condition of the motorcyclist, David King, 55, of Philadelphia, is still "extremely critical" four days later, according to Sgt. Chris Sulzbach.
Pennsauken police are now asking for the public's help, hoping that anyone who witnessed the accident will contact police and confirm the theory about a third vehicle being involved.
Sulzbach said the accident occurred around 9:40 p.m. on northbound Route 73, just north of Route 130.
'Sudden death' of girl, 8, under investigation
He said a vehicle driven by Kenneth Larsen, 65, of Philadelphia, struck King's motorcycle from behind. Larsen remained on scene and was charged with driving while under the influence of alcohol and aggravated assault, Sulzbach said.
But the accident investigation points toward a third vehicle running over King, Sulzbach said.
It's a busy road and while there were likely many witnesses, including some who stopped, most went on their way before police could speak with them about what they saw.
Anyone who witnessed the crash or has any information about it is asked to call the department's traffic division at (856) 488-0080 Ext. 2300.
