Elementary and middle school students pair-up for Robotics, Environmental STEM
WINSLOW TWP. -- Learning "stems" from passion, and the Winslow Township School District is hoping to ignite the passion for Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) early in its students.
About 40 third-grade students from Winslow Township School No. 3 will visit the two STEM classrooms of Winslow Township Middle School (WTMS) to learn about and get hands-on practice with Environmental and Robotics STEM.
WTMS students will become teachers to the younger students, guiding them in testing water samples, putting together robots, and then eating lunch together, all while wearing proper protective equipment in the form of white lab coats.
Winslow STEM Day will take place Tuesday, Jan. 24 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
WTMS students currently are putting together an introductory video for their younger friends to watch upon arrival by school bus. This is the first time the district is holding an inter-school STEM Day. WTMS Principal Stella Nwanguma said, "I'm excited for them to experience a day in the life of a middle schooler!"
