This year, we will recognize Riletta T. Cream and Andre' Spruel for their contributions and direct impact to Camden and the surrounding community.

Mrs. Cream, our Drum Major for Justice Awardee, is a retired Camden School District educator who has been a life-long supporter to the children in Camden where she served as a teacher and principal. She has also served as a Camden County Freeholder and has proudly established scholarship funds at Camden County College and Rowan University.

Spruel, our unsung hero, is the founder of Helping Other People Eat where for more than two years he has fed people. He started on the corner of Broadway and Federal Street with a pot of chili, white rice, bottled water and two tables and since that time, his organization has grown to feeding people seven days a week, three times a day.

The guest speaker is Paulette Brown Esq., the Immediate Past President of the American Bar Association and first African-American woman to serve as ABA president. She is the author of "Visible Invisibility: Women of Color in Law Firms." She has chaired the ABA Council on Racial and Ethnic Justice and is the past co-chair of the Commission on Civic Education in our Nation's Schools. She has also been recognized by the National Law Journal as one of "The 50 Most Influential Minority Lawyers in America."

Theta Pi Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. celebrates its 50th year "Golden" anniversary in 2017 serving the South Jersey Community with programs that focus on health, education, scholarship, global impact and families.
