A Jewish Federation of Southern NJ tradition that benefits thousands
Super Sunday is rapidly approaching. Not Super Bowl Sunday, but the Sunday before. It's a tradition at the Jewish Federation of Southern New Jersey that benefits tens of thousands individuals right here in South Jersey, in Israel, and in 90 other countries around the world.
"The dollars raised during Super Sunday/Week make a real impact on our South Jersey community, and in Jewish communities all around the world. Ninety cents on every dollar donated to JFund goes directly to programs and services, ensuring a Jewish future and caring for all those in need," said Jennifer Dubrow Weiss, CEO of Jewish Federation of Southern New Jersey.
This year's 38th annual Super Sunday phone-a-thon will take place on Jan. 29 with two shifts -- 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and 5 p.m, to 8 p.m. The phones will be ringing off the hook that day as hundreds of passionate volunteers reach out to donors in Camden, Burlington, and Gloucester Counties to raise funds for the Jewish Federation's JFund campaign. Super Sunday is followed by Super Week, which runs through Feb. 2. Last year, more than 300 volunteers helped to raise over $1 million in just one week!
In addition to the more than 300 volunteers who come out for Super Sunday, local dignitaries also show their support with their attendance. Volunteers are needed for both shifts on Super Sunday to make calls and do clerical work. A continental breakfast and light dinner will be served to anyone who comes out to make the calls. Phone and clerical volunteers are also needed during Super Week and Jan. 30 through Feb. 2
Training is provided onsite. Onsite parking is available. Those unable to volunteer are asked to donate when called. For more information, visit jewishsouthjersey.org/supersunday or email supersunday@jfedsnj.org or call 856-751-9500, ext. 1117. It's never too late to volunteer; walk-ins are always welcome.
