The agreement allows students to stay at Mercer County Community College for a third year before transferring to Rutgers-Camden

WEST WINDSOR -- For the second time this week, Mercer County Community College announced a partnership that will make it easier for its nursing students to pursue bachelor's degrees, this one with Rutgers University-Camden.

An agreement signed Thursday will allow MCCC students to stay at the West Windsor campus for a third year before transferring to Rutgers, saving them an estimated $20,000.

Students who earn an associate's degree in nursing, pass the National Council Licensure Examination for Registered Nurses and become licensed as a registered nurse will be guaranteed admission into the Rutgers-Camden RN to BS Express program.

The agreement allows students to pay the lower tuition at MCCC for an additional year.

"Our new partnership opens doors and enhances accessibility for a new generation of healthcare professionals, enabling them to overcome obstacles otherwise created through cost, inconvenience or a lack of opportunity," MCCC President Jianping Wang said.

The agreement with Rutgers follows another one signed earlier this week with Thomas Edison State University that allows nursing graduates to transfer and apply up to 90 credits to an online RN-BSN program.
