Officer Clarimar Rodriguez was named Officer of the Week for her kind gesture.
CAMDEN -- Officers walking the beat in Camden often run into homeless men and women. A cop might say 'hello' and see how they're doing, but sometimes an officer goes a step further.
That's what happened Feb. 17 when Officer Clarimar Rodriguez was on her regular foot patrol in Whitman Park and Parkside, according to a Facebook post by Camden County Police.
She was walking in the area of Mount Ephraim Avenue and Liberty Street when she started talking with a homeless man that she had met a few times before.
The man told her he hadn't had a haircut in several years and was trying to get one, the department said.
"Officer Rodriguez promptly walked with the man to a nearby barbershop on Mount Ephraim Avenue and paid for him to get a haircut," the release said. "He was extremely thankful and appreciative of Officer Rodriguez's gesture."
The statement didn't name the man, but included before and after pictures of his new 'do.

For her kindness, the department named Rodriguez Officer of the Week. She joined the department in May 2016 and is a member of the Neighborhood Response Team, the release said.
"Officer Rodriguez has consistently recognized that her job is also caring about the well-being of all the members in the community she serves," Lt. Jason Pike said in the statement. "Her willingness to help this gentleman shows she has the dedication it takes to be a Camden County police officer."
