Clearview Regional student Andrew String is student director of the Teen Council
Bowling now takes on a new meaning for hundreds of local New Jersey teenagers, who participated in the Ronald McDonald House of Southern New Jersey (RMHSNJ) 'Spare Some Love' Bowling fundraiser on Feb. 25. This event is solely organized and hosted by Ronald McDonald House of Southern New Jersey's Teen Advisory Council, which was founded six years ago. The council is pleased to announce they have raised a total $24,000 to support RMHSNJ initiatives and programs.
Through the program, a group of students from 30 area high schools throughout the region meet monthly to volunteer and fundraise for the RMHSNJ. The teens leading the event handled everything -- from soliciting sponsors, selling tickets, obtaining all raffle items offered and running day-of event production.
The fundraising event came full circle for one Clearview Regional High School student, Andrew String. String is the student director of the Ronald McDonald House of Southern New Jersey Teen Advisory Council and has been involved personally with the House since he was a young boy.
"All of my aunts live in South Jersey, and they would bring me to the House to volunteer for the Family Meals program," said String, a high school senior. "We brought our family favorites of Italian specialities to the House -- and it turned into a new family tradition over the years."
String found out about the Teen Advisory Council when he was a sophomore and knew this would be a great way to give back and help children of the Ronald House. "Not only has the House brought my family, school and friends together, but it truly does 'keep families close'."
