Thousands turned out for annual animal adoption event in Voorhees.

VOORHEES TWP. - A little bit of rain didn't stop South Jersey animal lovers from celebrating the 19th Annual Woofstock Festival. For only $1, patrons gathered at the John Connolly Park in Voorhees Saturday afternoon to have some fun with their precious pups.

Hosted by the Voorhees Animal Orphanage and Camden County Freeholder Board, this event is the orphanage's largest fundraiser. Over 100 vendors attended the event. Gourmet food trucks served lunch and an alumni parade circled the park.

Local animal welfare and rescue organizations attended with animals to adopt. Special appearances were made by The Joseph A. Ferko String Band and Master Chef Joseph Poon.

Last year, about 4,000 people attended the festival. All proceeds benefit the Voorhees Animal Orphanage, which serves lost and unwanted cats and dogs from Camden and Burlington County.
