3 possible luring attempts reported within a month in Gloucester Twp.

There's no reason to believe the incidents are related, police said.

GLOUCESTER TWP. -- Township police are again warning residents of a man offering a juvenile a ride. This is the third report within a month of interactions between men in vehicles and juveniles walking on the street.

The descriptions of the men and their vehicles are different, and police said Monday that they do not appear to be related.

The most recent incident was Monday at 2:48 p.m. in the area of Fairmont and Estelle avenues in Blackwood. Police said a 12-year-old boy reported that a van stopped and the driver rolled down the window, at which point the boy fled. The van reversed in his direction, and then abruptly left the area, police said.

The driver appeared to be a white male in his early 30s with dark hair and a mustache, police said. The boy described the vehicle as a newer model white van, possibly an Econoline, with a roof rack and a scratched rear bumper.

On Sunday at 10:26 p.m., according to police, a man asked a 17-year-old girl if she wanted a ride home while she was walking on the Black Horse Pike near Prospect Avenue.

Police said the man pulled up, beeped the horn and asked her if she needed a ride. She also fled on foot.

She described the van as an older model, construction-style, white van, with no windows along the side, tinted front windows, and a black or dark color air freshener hanging from the rearview mirror.

Police said the man was described as a white man in his mid-30s, with no facial hair, a front left tooth that appeared crooked, and a blemish or mole on the right side of his chin. He was wearing a black hooded sweatshirt and spoke in a deep, raspy voice, the girl told police.

The earliest incident happened March 11 on Stonebridge Drive in the Terrestria development. A girl told police a man pulled up and offered her a ride multiple times.

Police released a sketch of the driver based on the description given by the girl: a white man, in his late 40s or early 50s, with brown eyes and facial hair on his chin, according to police.

She described the vehicle as an older model, white, "box-style" sedan with a blue or black stripe or molding wrapping around the vehicle.
