Akim Jones-Williams, 28, of Laurel Springs, had previously been found guilty of homicide by vehicle and driving under the influence, the York Daily Record said.

Jones-Williams smoked marijuana before getting behind the wheel of the SUV that day, authorities said.

Cori Sisiti died in the crash, which occurred on her 23rd birthday. The couple's then 2-year-old daughter survived. Jones-Williams was also treated for injuries.

Jones-Williams was driving a red Mitsubishi Outlander eastbound on a private road in York Haven when he tried to cross railroad tracks as a northbound train approached.

Jones-Williams later said, "I drove up there 18 miles high as a kite and nothing happened, so it's not my fault that the train hit our car," according to court documents.

He will serve one year of probation after finishing his stint in prison.
