CAMDEN -- A 16-year-old is facing a recommended six-year jail term after he accepted a plea bargain for accidentally shooting of a friend.
Christian Mullings killed Antiqoun Beatty last July with a shot to the chest while handling a gun owned by his father, the Courier-Post reported. It happened in Mulling's home in the 1200 block of Mechanic Street.
The mother of both teens sat sobbing in the courtroom Wednesday, the news report said. Mullings may have to serve at least 85 percent of his sentence in a youth facility before being eligible for parole. He was originally charged as a juvenile but was sentence as an adult for acting "recklessly." Sentencing is scheduled for May 26.
