Ten other officers were fired after the incident at the Camden County Jail.
CAMDEN -- The four-month suspension of a Camden County Jail guard for being photographed with several other guards has been upheld by a the state Civil Service Commission.
Isaac Reyes told officials during the inquiry into the 2014 incident that he did not know the photo was being taken with a cell-phone camera, according to documents filed with the commission's ruling on May 3. However, the photo showed him kneeling making a gesture toward the camera. A racial slur was also superimposed on the picture.
Ten other officers, including Michael Jacob, who took the picture with a phone he should not have had in the prison, were fired after the incident.
"The county is very happy with the court's decision to uphold the disciplinary actions of the warden, which were fair and just under the general operating guidelines and protocols of the jail," Dan Keashen, a county spokesman said in an email Friday.
The phone was found during a security sweep of the facility.
