Stratford police said Michael Elliot was caught taking floor tiles, as well as plumbing and cleaning supplies from the Stratford school district.
STRATFORD -- A school district employee is facing theft charges Saturday, after police said he was caught stealing supplies from the Stratford school district.
Police said an officer on patrol spotted Michael Elliot, 41 of Mt. Ephraim, leaving a secluded storage area of the Yellin school just after 11 p.m. on Friday evening.
Elliot, who has been employed by the district as a custodian for the past six months, was pulled over by the officer about 30 minutes later and was found to be in possession of stolen materials including commercial-grade floor tiles, plumbing supplies and cleaning supplies.
He faces charges of 4th-degree theft of government property and released pending a Dec. 1 appearance in Superior Court. Police said his current employment status is undetermined.
