CAMDEN -- Authorities on Wednesday identified the man who they said was killed by police in a shootout with two Camden County officers.
Freddy Baez, 24, of Camden, was shot Tuesday night at an apartment complex on Rutledge Walk, the Camden County Prosecutor's Office said. Baez was pronounced dead at Cooper University Hospital a short time later.
The two Camden County Police Department officers responded to a 9-1-1 call of a "domestic violence disturbance" at the complex around 7 p.m., according to the prosecutor's office. The caller said Baez was possibly armed.
Authorities said Baez exchanged gunfire with police, but did not specify how many shots were fired.
Both officers were placed on administrative leave as the investigation continued, according to the prosecutor's office. Officials did not release the names of the officers.
