PHILADELPHIA -- Charles Dickens' "A Christmas Carol" comes alive at Macy's Center City throughout the holiday season.
The 6,000-square-foot walk-through experience uses animatronic characters -- such as Ebenezer Scrooge and Tiny Tim -- from the classic story to transport visitors back to London in the 1840s.
At the end of the exhibit, children have the opportunity to visit with Santa.
Dickens Village was first opened at Strawbridge's and Clothier Dept. Store in 1985. When Macy's took over the former John Wanamaker's flagship store in 2006, they acquired the collection, which now has a permanent home in the renovated Egyptian Room.
Macy's Santaland and Dickens Village are located on the third floor of Macy's Center City at 1300 Market Street. It is open daily from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. through Dec. 31.
