CAMDEN -- National Stop the Violence Alliance Inc., a national nonprofit organization, presents its 2016 Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day Commemorative Celebration.
This 2016 celebration kicks off the National Stop the Violence Alliance Inc. 25th anniversary, with a year of celebratory events planned.
The event on Jan. 18 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the Holiday Inn in Cherry Hill, hopes to build communities of trust and bridge the gap between the community and law enforcement.
Tickets are $50, which includes a Southern brunch and beverages.
During this event, Rev. Robin Scott-King, the niece of the late Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., will be honored and will serve as the keynote speaker.
Sponsored by the Camden County Chamber of Commerce, special guests and honorees include community leaders, law enforcement officers and professional athletes:

- Internationally acclaimed sculptor Zenos Frudakis
- Honorable James DeLeon
- Community activist Reva Foster
Commissioner Ramsey, the co-chair of President Barack Obama's 21st Century Taskforce on Policing, will receive the coveted National Peace Medal and other accolades to be presented.
The Temple University Gospel Choir of Philadelphia, Pa. will entertain and there will be a small historical picture gallery.

National Stop the Violence Alliance Inc. was established in 1991 by Dr. Stephne R. Coney. A native of Camden, Coney adopted the teachings of nonviolence in the philosophies of Mohandas Gandhi, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., and Mother Teresa, and incorporated National Stop the Violence, with undertaking a mission to end violence across the country.
