The alleged drug dealer has been charged as liable for a South Jersey man's overdose death.

WOODBURY -- A judge refused to lower bail on Friday for a Camden man accused of providing the heroin that resulted in a Woolwich Township resident's 2014 overdose death, the Gloucester County Prosecutor's Office has announced.

This is the second time Judge Robert Becker has denied a request to reduce bail for Joshua L. Rodriguez, 23. The suspected drug dealer has been held on $500,000 bail since his arrest in December of 2014.

Rodriguez was charged with first-degree liability for a drug-induced death after a 42-year-old Woolwich man was found dead in his home on Oct. 31, 2014. Woolwich police tracked the heroin back to Camden, where local law enforcement aided in the investigation.

The defendant's lawyer complained that there was a delay in the distribution of toxicology and medical records, which was slowing down court proceedings, according to a GCPO spokesman.  Becker pointed out that attorneys had received the records this past November, and that Rodriguez's indictment last April showed the case was moving along.

The judge added that "there have been no other changes in the defendant's circumstances to warrant reconsideration of bail," the prosecutor's office said.
