'Be cautious using Craigslist,' cops say after dirt bike thefts

Camden County Police Department warns sellers to carefully use Craigslist.

CAMDEN -- Authorities in Camden County are investigating a string of dirt bike thefts.

Since Feb. 20, authorities have been investigating the theft of dirt bikes in the area.

There have been five reported thefts at this time.

Owners of the bikes posted that they had a dirt bike for sale on Craigslist, would make an arrangement with potential buyer to meet in Camden and finalize the sale, police said.

In each situation, the buyer asked to test drive the bike, would take off with the dirt bike and not return, authorities reported.

Dirt bike sales were arranged in the area of Sayres and Hallowell streets, as well as Browning and Hallowell, Decatur and Hallowell, 9th and Central.

Police describe the suspect as a male in his late teens or early 20s.

The Camden County Police Department is warning potential sellers to take precautions before arranging sales.

Anyone with information about these thefts is asked to contact the Camden County Police Department tip line at 856-757-7042.
