CAMDEN -- Women of the Dream (WOD), a nonprofit that works to empower disadvantaged teen girls, will be taking their community outreach to the next level with the upcoming launch of their mentoring program in Camden for teens 12-18.

WOD is seeking prospective mentors in the Greater Philadelphia and Camden County areas, and will host an informational think tank at Campbell's Soup Company on April 13 at 6 p.m. at Campbell Soup Company, 1 Campbell Place in Camden.

The think tank will serve as an opportunity to provide a clear understanding of the requirements and expectations, enabling prospective mentors to make an informed decision. Dinner will be served and attendees will have an opportunity to network with WOD's corporate and individual supporters. Prospective mentors can register online at www.womenofthedream.org.

Launched in 2014 with support from Campbell's Soup Company, WOD partners with local schools and youth serving organizations in Camden to provide culturally relevant programs and workshops, topics include:

  • Teen pregnancy prevention
  • Family dynamics
  • Intimate partner relationships
  • Career development, and more.

With 52 percent of the city's residents living in poverty, the most recent Census release drew attention to Camden as the poorest city in the nation.
