Police found the suspects at around 2:40 a.m.

CAMDEN -- As part of a push to address graffiti in the city, Camden metro officers made four arrests over the weekend after allegedly spotting the suspects defacing city property.

It was approximately 2:40 a.m. on Saturday when Camden County Police Department (CCPD) Sgt. Robert Borger reportedly saw four people spray-painting graffiti on the columns of the Federal Street bridge near Admiral Wilson Boulevard.

Authorities say the group ignored orders to stop and took off onto nearby railroad tracks. CCPD officers pursued the suspects on foot and caught all four without incident, police said.

'The proverbial broken window.'

Arrested were Felix Santos, 19; Lamar Hoffman, 20; Jeffrey Figueroa, 18; and Marcus Benvenutti, 20. Authorities added that the men had allegedly spray-painted graffiti on other properties in the area.

Both Camden City code enforcement officials from the CCPD have been addressing code violations as part of an effort to remove graffiti along Admiral Wilson Boulevard as well as other parts of the city.

The four men, all of Pennsauken, were charged with criminal mischief and resisting arrest. They were sent to the Camden County jail with bail set at $20,000 cash or bond.
