Get ready for a day of uber-adorable puppy deliveries. Uber has announced that it will be offering UberPUPPIES, its special dog delivery service, on Thursday, May 19 in Hudson County, Newark and Cherry Hill as well as Philadelphia and downtown Pittsburgh.
How to get your puppy playdate:
Between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m., select the "puppies" option in the Uber app. If your request is granted (Uber says demand will probably be high, so there's no guarantee puppies will be able to visit), you will be charged $30 for 15 minutes of puppy time -- Uber calls that a "snuggle fee." The money will be donated to a local shelter.
Uber asks that those requesting puppy playdates make sure they have an enclosed space to use.
In 2015, UberKITTENS came to Jersey City and Hoboken as part of a 50-city feline extravaganza. Drivers transported cats from Liberty Humane Society to homes and businesses for 15-minute visits, allowing those interested in pet adoption to get some face time with potential companions.
The dogs are being provided by the non-profit Southern Paws Inc., the Pennsylvania SPCA and the Western Pennsylvania Humane Society.
Philadelphia neighborhoods eligible for UberPUPPIES service include Center City, University City, Fishtown, Northern Liberties, Old City and Navy Yard in addition to Conshohocken and King of Prussia.
