The 22nd Vans Warped Tour brought thousands of music fans to Camden's BB&T Pavilion despite the summer's first heat-wave.
From first-timers like Baltimore-based hard rock band, Bad Seed Rising, to festival veterans such as ska band, Less Than Jake, the 22nd Vans Warped Tour proved to, once again, be the pinnacle of summer rock events, despite the 100-degree temperatures in Camden Friday.
With misting stations and sprinklers, free water bottle fill ups from Cool Gear, and an inflatable slip and slide, the huge Warped Tour crowd kept cool and hydrated while enjoying their favorite bands.
But how do the bands feel about the heat?
"Oh, we're bringing the heat," laughed Francheska Pastor, lead singer for Bad Seed Rising. "I don't mind playin in the heat. I kind of forget about it."
Drummer Aiden Marceron said the band's performance outweighs the high temperatures.
"We have a lot of energy, so that's a distraction from how hot it is," he said. "We kind of distract ourselves, too."
The rock quartet -- with Pastor, Marceron, Mason Gainer on guitar, and Louey Peraza on bass -- formed in 2012 after studying at the Let There Be Rock School. Gainer and Peraza met at the Columbia, Maryland, school, and Pastor and Marceron found each other at the Frederick, Maryland, location.
Since then, Bad Seed Rising has opened for bands like 3 Doors Down and Halestorm, released two EPs, and are preparing to drop a full-length album in September on Roadrunner Records -- a subsidiary of Atlantic Records.
But being on Warped Tour is a "dream come true."
"It's very nice," Pastor said dreamily. "Lots of nice people, really nice bands, and really nice music."
And speaking of music, Bad Seed Rising's music has already been featured on a Hollywood soundtrack.
Paul Feig -- writer and director of the summer 2015 comedy "Spy," starring Melissa McCarthy and Jude Law -- knew the song belonged on the soundtrack as soon as he heard it.
"Paul heard us on the radio and wanted to put us on the credits," Pastor said. "They were going through the movie and picking songs for the movie."
Marceron explained that it happened quite by chance.
"He went into a bar that wasn't open yet and they were playing it on the radio," he said. "He heard it and was like, wow."
When Pastor found out their self-titled song, "Bad Seed Rising" would be on the soundtrack, she cried.
"It's crazy because who's playing our stuff on the radio in Vegas or wherever he was out there?" she said.
Seems like the band is getting a lot more radio play, and they hope that continues for a long time.
"In 10 years, I hope to be playing music and making a living out of it," Pastor said. "Hopefully, making some money so we can pay the bills. As an artist, I don't like the fact that it's about the money, but it has to be. Everyone needs money to survive because the world runs on money.
"It's just really hard, and it sucks because we want to be like, 'We don't want your money, we just want your company,' but we kind of need money so we can buy things we need, and be on Warped, and go on to the next stage."
Marceron just hopes to keep playing music for as long as possible.
"You never know what's going to happen, so I just go with the flow," he said.
But for now, Bad Seed Rising will continue on Van's Warped Tour through the summer, then move on to the "I Prevail" tour and the release of their album "Dream in Color."
