After a trip to the dentist, she found herself at an eye specialist getting fitted for a prosthetic eyeball.
COLLINGSWOOD -- A woman from Collingswood is raising awareness after she said a routine visit at the dentist cost her part of her vision.
According to CBS Philly, Jenn Morrone was at the dentist when a needle was accidentally dropped in her eye following a Novocaine injection. While the needle itself did not cause problems, Morrone says the bacteria from her mouth ruined her vision and resulted in her getting fitted for a prosthetic eye.
The accident could have been prevented as it is CDC and American Dental Association recommended that all dental patients wear eye protection but some dentists don't follow that protocol, CBS Philly reported.
Morrone told CBS Philly that she really trusted her dentist, saying "I did not know eye protection was so important."
Morrone sued the dentist over the incident that happened three years ago this month, CBS Philly reported.
