Isaiah Pascall allegedly shot and killed a 21-year-old Merchantville resident.
MERCHANTVILLE -- A Pennsauken man has been indicted on charges he shot a Merchantville resident to death in February.
Isaiah Pascall, 23, was indicted on a first-degree murder charge in the killing of 21-year-old Joshua Simmons, who died on Feb. 22, according to the Camden County Prosecutor's Office.
Pascall shot Simmons on Russell Avenue after a fight involving an "isolated group of individuals," authorities said.
Merchantville police responded to the scene and found Simmons on the sidewalk suffering from a single gunshot wound. He later died at Kennedy Hospital, authorities said.
Small town not 'immune' to violence
In the wake of the shooting, Merchantville Mayor Edward Brennan said the borough is not "immune" to "unfortunate" incidents such as these.
"Despite the fine work of our local police force, these incidents occur and largely cannot be prevented," Brennan said.
