The victim was driving south on Route 42 early Saturday when another vehicle pulled up alongside him and opened fire, state police said.
RUNNEMEDE -- New Jersey State Police have identified the man who was fatally shot on a South Jersey expressway early Saturday.
The victim was Samaud Johnson, 24, of Camden, according to Sgt. First Class Gregory Williams.
The search continued Monday for a suspect in the shooting.
Johnson was traveling southbound on Route 42, also known locally as the North-South Freeway, around 2:30 a.m. Saturday when another vehicle pulled up alongside him and opened fire, state police said.
Johnson's white Ford Fusion then ran off the roadway in the area of Exit 14.

He was taken to Cooper University Hospital, Camden, where he was pronounced dead, Williams said.
The shooting caused part of the expressway to be shut down early Saturday for the police investigation to take place.
Anyone with any information about the shooting is asked to call New Jersey State Police at the Bellmawr Station at 856-933-0662. Anonymous tips are welcome, authorities say.
