BERLIN TWP. -- A township police officer was injured in a motor vehicle accident Monday that left both the officer and another motorist hospitalized.

The accident, which was initially reported early Monday afternoon, occurred near Route 73 and Walker Avenue, according to Berlin police Chief Leonard Check. The officer, whose identity was not released, was taken to Virtua hospital in Camden. He suffered non-life threatening injuries, Check said.

The other motorist involved in the collision was the lone occupant of the vehicle, Check said. That person was airlifted to Cooper University Hospital, in Camden. Check said he wasn't aware of their condition as of late Monday afternoon.
