Halloween parties and a special Sinatra 100th Birthday Dinner are on the calendar of upcoming foodie events.
During my Sunday night visit to the Ryland Inn, I couldn't help asking about the resident ghost. (We are talking about a 200-year-old building here.) For those unfamiliar with the story, "The Lady" resides in the stairway and several staff members have felt her "catch them" as they tripped going down the stairs (something I decided not to try). Others have seen her in the Washington Room. In the honor of The Lady of the Ryland, there is a Halloween Party booked for 9:30 p.m. to 1 a.m., Saturday, that will include a DJ, dancing and tapas. There will be a costume contest, too, with the winner walking away with the treat of dinner for two. Tickets are $20. 111 Old Highway 28, Whitehouse Station.
The Prohibition era might be history, but the Atlantic City Bottle Company and its highly acclaimed bar and lounge will be transformed into a "spookeasy" at 9:30 p.m. Saturday. The Halloween party will feature themed drink specials and deals on special small plates from executive chef Kevin Cronin. A costume contest will be taking place at the stroke of midnight. 648 N. Albany Ave., Atlantic City.
SINATRA'S 100TH BIRTHDAY DINNER
Hoboken's native son would be celebrating his 100th birthday this year. And even though the Chairman of the Board is no longer here, this is nothing wrong with the rest of us celebrating in his honor. Voorhees-based Catelli Duo is one New Jersey restaurant reserving Nov. 9, 7 to 10 p.m., for an event fittingly called "Sinatra's 100th Birthday Dinner." The evening includes entertainer Lou Dottoli and a four-course dinner ($65 per person, plus tax and gratuity). The menu even includes "Sinatra's favorite" Lemon Ricotta Torte and a "Come Fly With Me" drink. Full payment is required at reservation. (856) 751-6069. 12101 Town Center Blvd., Voorhees.
