PHILADELPHIA -- Vetri, the flagship restaurant of award-winning chef Marc Vetri, was named the best Italian restaurant in the country, according to a list compiled by TimeOut.com.

The intimate dining room opened in 1998 in a Spruce Street building that was once home to another Philadelphia fine dining establishment, Le Bec Fin.

Time Out -- an entertainment and travel website -- called a meal at Vetri a "once-in-a-lifetime experience," that's individually tailored to each guest.

Next business coming to Camden sets groundbreaking date

Vetri beat out some other East Coast landmarks, like Carbone and Del Posto in New York City and Fiola in Washington, D.C., for the top spot

Zeppoli, a BYOB off the beaten path in Collingswood, rounded out the list, coming in at #20. Head chef and owner, Joey Baldino, worked under Vetri before opening his own place across the bridge.
