Berlin police are asking for donations after a borough resident reported their entire clothing collection was stolen from a local laundromat.

BERLIN -- Township police are asking for donations after a borough resident reported their entire clothing collection was stolen from a local laundromat by an unknown "Grinch."

On Monday, police received a theft report after an incident at the Maytag laundromat, located along the White Horse Pike.

"An individual decided to steal a family's entire clothing collection which was being washed," Berlin police said Tuesday afternoon. "Included in the clothing were all of the clothes belonging to the victim's two small children."

A borough officer met with the mother on Tuesday and gave her a gift card to help kick-start the family rebuilding their wardrobe. However, police are hoping the public can help the family out, as well.

Readers with clothing or other pertinent donations are asked to bring them to the Berlin Police Department, locaed at 59 S. White Horse Pike. Donations may be left inside of the police department at all hours inside a designated box.

Specifically, the 5-year-old daughter wears size 5 children's clothing and a size 10 shoe. The 8-year-old boy wears size large children's clothing and a size 4.5 shoe.

"Also taken were clothes from the mother, however she was only interested in our generosity to help her children; if we could show her support as well, we would greatly appreciate it," police said Tuesday.
